Newcastle Knights confirm 10 departures, including an English starlet.
The Newcastle Knights have confirmed 10 departures at the end of their 2023 NRL season, including English starlet Bailey Hodgson, according to Zero Tackle.

The 21-year-old moved Down Under from Castleford Tigers in 2021 after catching the attention of the Australian side and signing a three-year contract.
Hodgson made his Super League debut against Hull KR just 10 days after turning 18 in 2020, and he has previously represented England at the youth level.

The West Hull junior was unable to make his first-team debut for the Knights due to injuries during his time in Australia. He missed the second half of the 2023 season due to shoulder stabilization surgery, despite having made 11 previous appearances in the New South Wales Cup, assisting on three tries.

He has only appeared 16 times for the club’s reserves in three years, after suffering a fractured elbow last year and undergoing surgery.
The young gun faced his uncle Josh Hodgson in the NRL’s 2023 pre-season challenge, and the Paramatta Eels won 36-14.

Dom Young, an England international, will leave the club at the end of the season, as the finals approach, to join the Sydney Roosters. The 22-year-old set a new club record with 23 regular-season tries, surpassing the previous mark of 21.

Lachlan Fitzgibbon and Lachlan Miller will move to the Super League with Warrington and Leeds, respectively, while Super League target Adam Clune will also leave.

The 28-year-old Australian halfback is set to join Ian Watson’s Huddersfield in 2024, replacing Catalans-bound Theo Fages. He has appeared in Newcastle’s last three games, with Jackson Hastings out due to injury.

Kurt Mann, another reporter Super League target, will leave the Newcastle Knights, but the utility looks set to stay in the NRL with the Canterbury Bulldogs starting next season.

The Knights have also confirmed that Hymel Hunt, Jack Johns, Simi Sasagi, and Dane Aukafolau will depart at the end of the season.
